Are you a healer?

You can’t lead another where you haven’t gone yourself.

This fact led me through my journey— seeking more and more tools with which to lead others further. Those tools always started by being applied to me.

Tools are tools. Healing work isn’t the same as being a technician. Healing relies on leading clients back to themselves— a holistic practice.

In the last 30 years, psychotherapy has been, like everything else in this world, dissected and commodified. Pieces are split off and repackaged as a 3 letter acronym, sometimes more, as if it were something new. To compete, the next ambitious person tries to create any even simpler sounding structure, so they can sell certifications and trainings. And then it’s on. A menu option— as if you were running through a car wash.

The next thing you know, you can’t see the forest from all the trees that have been cut down. The unifying threads, the container that held those tools, that made them effective, is lost. It is classic. A perfect symptom of the larger societal problem: fracture. Only fracture can’t heal fracture.

I don’t recognize the landscape of therapy from when I first encountered it: as a 14 year old girl wondering what she was doing in the- then- strange client chair. Even before that, reading about the greats— whose lives weren’t that far away in time yet— inspired me to plumb the depths of the psyche as an uncharted world. And was it ever! I always understood the connection between Psyche and Eros intuitively. Myths hide psychological truths. Without an integral connection between heart and mind, we don’t know ourselves. Not fully. And if we don’t know ourselves fully, we can’t give to— or receive from— others fully. And so, the pain of it, as organic creatures are made like this— for this. Relational. Of course it is going to drive maladaptation.

Dr. Ian McGilchrist nails it in his work. The cultural imbalance is both evidence of— and drives— imbalance that can be seen at the level of brain. Neurofeedback is a way to test drive his hypothesis. Change your hemispheric dysregulation and see what it’s like on the other side. .

Unfortunately we don’t see the language of healing of recovery of something greater , or encounter it in practice, especially since the ‘mental health system” became unified with insurance over the last decade. Insurance bred symptom talk, condition talk, and management talk. It is much cheaper for insurance to set the bar low.

Promoting a culture of empowerment and self actualization, the keys to effective living from which symptoms have no place to rise, requires liberation from the insurance and the medical model, which are stifling what was once a thriving and soulful, ultimately a mysterious realm: the dimension of psyche. For it is dimensional.

I can clearly see where it’s heading— observing the trajectory over these past 4 decades. Soon AI “therapists” will replace the insurance model of “mental health”. If there was ever a misnomer that is the one. All they cover is disease. It’s all they know. This is the threshold for renaissance. Symptom management can certainly be done by an AI. Healers will have their own place again.

”What we have here is a failure to communicate.”

I invite you to prepare for the transition now. By experiencing it all directly, I discovered how to reverse engineer most of the “conditions” that drive people into treatment. When you learn how to read experience, the threads reveal themselves to you. There’s a key that appears. It is amazingly simple. Beginning with transforming language, not universally— but your own, you will begin to recover the intuitive sense that guides back to the secure knowledge that “the only thing wrong with anybody is that they think there is something wrong with them”. If you speak the language of “pathology” and “disease”, you will only encounter “pathology” and “disease”.

Disease is dis-ease. An interruption in the continuity of being. The wholeness of the human condition. Healing is restorative. Treatment is not.

An evolutionary model— recognizing emotion to be the bridge through which integration between body (the somatic) and the cognitive mind— as a new level of consciousness and the pathway to restoration, will be superior to AI. An integral therapy that begins with the foundation: embodiment will be superior to AI. By embracing this model, you protect yourself from becoming redundant. People will be able to perceive the specific value they have to offer more clearly: a human relationship— one who understands. One who walked that way as well. People will understand why, in the past, people were glad to pay for it directly.

Conscious embodiment— or integral therapy— is a direct pathway to expedited healing in even the most complex cases. Because we are all human. We are all affected in the same way because we share the same “equipment”, the same biology and the same pathway through which it connects to mind. When biology is frustrated, as it invariably is with the inorganic way of life we have now, mind will be disturbed. Because body is.

The only way to know anything is to experience it directly. If you’d like to make yourself bulletproof for the coming revolution in the field, then reach out. I can help you hone your skills in the other direction that is missing right now: within the whole self. Not the symptoms. Not what they are called. But where they actually come from and what they want. When you meet their needs, they go away.

(In the past I offered workshops and CEUs. But now, like I said, I am moving away from the “system,” or moreso, “the system” moved away from me.)
